bonding-studenteninitiative e.V.

We are bridging the gap between students and companies.

We are an association of voluntary students whose mission it is to bridge the gap between companies and students. We would like to offer all students of technology or business the opportunity of getting an insight view into the professional working world already during their studies and to get in touch with possible future employers.

To accomplish this mission, we organize different events, from job fairs to excursions to technical lectures.

bonding has 12 local groups in Germany. As a registered voluntary association, all our members work voluntarily and we offer all of our services free of charge for the students.

Our reward is not money – it’s the friendships we build, the fun we have and the experiences we get!

1988

The Founding Year

It’s February 10th, 1988. Ten students of RWTH Aachen sign the statutes of bonding-studenteninitiative e.V. and set the cornerstone for a national network of young students of technology who want to offer their co-students the opportunity of getting inside views into different professional fields.

Its November 25th, 1988. The first “bonding job fair” takes place in Aachen in a gymnasium with 28 companies presenting themselves.

1995

It’s alive and moving!

Only a few months after the founding of bonding in Aachen, students set out to other cities in Germany and soon bonding Karlsruhe, Duisburg, Stuttgart, Braunschweig, Dresden and Berlin are founded within the first three years. Also the Circle of Sponsors is created and the Alumni Organization gets started!

Fun Fact:

The local group in Dresden gets founded on 01.10.1990 – even before Germany is officially reunited!

“Die Kölner Runde”

In the early years there were still many opportunities for new things. That’s what representatives of the organizations bonding, AIESEC Germany, ELSA Germany, MARKET TEAM and MTP thought to themselves when the founded the “Kölner Runde” (“Round table of Cologne”) in 1991. The goal was to be the voice of involved and motivated students and to offer a platform for the exchange of ideas of the different organizations.   Later on BDSU e.V. and the Biotechnologische Studenteninitiative btS (biotechnologists) joined.

Today the “Kölner Runde” is known as Verband deutscher Studenteninitiativen (VDSI) and in the long-term they want to represent ideas of all committed students.

2000

Into the New Millenium

Even though the local group in Duisburg was closed in 1996 the organization kept growing. Hamburg and Erlangen were founded in 1997 followed by Bochum and Kaiserslautern in 1999.

Along with the contacts in Germany, bonding also started the cooperation with Board of European Students of Technology (BEST) on May 1st, 1997 and ever since bonding has also been active throughout Europe.  Our so called European Workshops both contain academical education as well as cultural exchanges with participants from the whole of Europe.

2005

Go Big or Go Home

New year, new resolutions: After renovating the organization’s house, the baumhaus, we had a place to meet for trainings, team buildings and to work on the organization together. We also started trying new concepts such as the first bonding Industry Night, our first German-wide case study and the first Engineering Competition. Also we founded another local group, München, in 2005.

2013

To the Next 25 Years

For 25 years we have been offering students the possibility to get a look into professional work life. We organize over 100 events every year, among hese events the largest contruction competition in Germany, the biggest student-organized job fair and new projects every year.

Our values have not changed much ever since and we are very proud to be successful with our events as an independent student organization.

Our values are reflected in our actions.

Trying Out is Desired

Constantly trying and learning is part of our everyday program – thus it is also okay to fail every once in a while.

Personal Development

Out internal training system allows members to constantly develop and improve themselves.

Professional Work

Our members learn to work and develop in a professional environment.

Social Cohesion and Team Spirit

CAMP - Our Annual Meeting

CAMP - Our Annual Meeting

Once a year active and former bonding members meet at the so called CAMP. It’s a way of saying thank you to all of the members for the engaging and voluntary commitment. At the same time, CAMP is the place where the new national board is elected an thus the place where a new bonding year starts.

Alumni

Every bonding who is still interested in what’s happening in the organization can join the Alumni association. It’s a fantastic opportunity to stay updated about whatever is happening in bonding and to also stay actively involved.

At least once a year all the Alumni get the chance to meet active bondings at the annual CAMP, to see old faces and help shape the bonding-studenteninitiative e.V. of the future.

con moto - Our Training System

As an active bonding you will get the chance to participate in a lot of internal further educational trainings, that will be useful in your future work space. The trainings we offer range from important key qualifications such as project management to conflict solving strategies or the usage of software like Adobe Creative Suite.

But also working in a team of volunteers significantly improves team working skills and offers new points of views to the active bondings.

bonding has many trainings and also developed its own training system as well as its own education system for the trainers. Those trainers transfer their knowledge to the next generation and help to constantly improve bonding. As always – those trainings are free for everybody.
